Oliver's obituary

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Oliver Thomas, a beloved father, husband, brother, and friend. Oliver was born on January 6, 1942, and left us on November 29, 2023. Throughout his life, Oliver was a beacon of faith, renowned for his deep voice and social warmth. The wisdom he imparted to all who knew him was simple yet profound - to love God above all things.

Oliver is survived by his loving wife, Susie Thomas, whom he married in 1961, and their children, Joann, Barry, Andrea and Renee. He is also survived by his brothers Earl and Michael Thomas, his granddaughters Dayna and Heather, his great grandchildren, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Louise Thomas,  his father Earl Thomas Sr, sister Linda Thomas and his daughter Leah Thomas.

Since his dedication and baptism in 1965, Oliver was a zealous servant of Jehovah God.  In 1976, Oliver moved to Tucumcari, NM, in a endeavor to live where he could be used most by God. It is also when he started his business Paradise Electric. He was well known in his community as both an electrical contractor and sharing the good news of God's Kingdom.

Oliver had a passion for life that was evident in his various pursuits. In his lifetime he found solace in photography, flying, camping, and horseback riding. In later years, he enjoyed taking long walks, and had a love for wine as well as the music of Smokey Robinson and jazz.  His warmth and sociability shined brightly in all his endeavors.

He deeply cared for serving Jehovah God & his wife Susie-Q. He was known for his booming personality, marked by a deep voice, friendliness and excellent work ethic. Oliver's accomplishments, including opening his own electrical contractor business, earning his pilot's license, raising his 4 children, and his zeal for sharing God's word, were a testament to his determination, hard work, and unwavering faith.

Oliver's legacy is one of love, faith, and resilience, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.  In lieu of flowers, contribution can be made towards his "SusieQ's" new residence in Las Cruces.
