Oliver's obituary
Oliver L. Garrett Jr.
April 15, 1948 – November 28, 2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Oliver L. Garrett Jr., also known as OG, who left us on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at the age of 76. Born and raised in San Francisco to Gladys Henry-Garrett and Oliver L. Garrett Sr., OG was a proud graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, where he remained an active member of the reunion committee until his passing. OG served his country with honor in the Vietnam War as a member of the U.S. Army. He later embraced the open road as a cross-country big rig truck driver, a career he loved and excelled in. OG accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in his 30's and was a long term member of Bay North Church of Christ in Fairfield, California.
Known for his big heart and infectious laughter, OG enjoyed cheering on his beloved 49ers and Warriors, taking drives through the Bay Area, Bayview-Hunters Point and The City, and spending time with family, friends and colleagues. He was a man who loved to play his Congos and listen to music, loved to talk, share stories, and encourage everyone he met.
He is survived by his six children Eric, Dimetri, Kimberly, Oliver III, Gabriel and Jeremy, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, all of whom carry on his legacy of love, laughter and having a great time, everyday.
A celebration of OG’s life will be held on Saturday, December 21st at Bay North Church of Christ, 2100 Pennsylvania Ave in Fairfield, CA 94533 at 11:00AM. Friends and family are invited to honor his memory and the joy he brought to so many.
Oliver will forever be remembered as a devoted father, proud San Franciscan, and cherished friend to all who knew him.
