Obie's obituary

Obie Rex Walden, aged 74, passed away on September 6, 2024, in Lubbock, Texas, USA. Born on July 17, 1950, Rex was known for his vibrant personality, being the life of the party, and his nomadic lifestyle. He had a big heart and was surrounded by a large circle of friends and family all over.

Rex spent his younger years growing up at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch and later working in the Texas Oil Field. His hobbies included traveling, fishing, hiking, camping, and partying, always ready to regale his companions with stories from his adventures.

He is survived by his siblings, Charles Willingham; and Lavinia Dahill;  his children, Jennifer Faye Choyce, Brandon Rex Wales, Matthew Walden, and Phillip Walden; grandchildren, Samantha McGlynn, Quenton McCalebb, and Bryce Wales; great-grandsons, Kash and Elijah; and his dear friend, Randy Patterson. Rex also leaves behind numerous other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Faye Gammage; father, Obie Paul Paulk; siblings, Michael Walden, Brenda Chisum, Patsy Turlington, Doris Tipton and Betty Garner.

Rex's life was a testament to living fully and loving well. His legacy will be cherished and remembered by all who knew him.
