Oakley Grant Smith September 28,1928 - August 4, 2013
he was a pillar of strength and virtue born into a successful entrepreneurial family in the Midwest , Detroit, Michigan the Sewell Avery Montgomery Ward hardware and department stores family on his mother Mary's side a teacher who was if Irish, Scotch and Canadian origin on his fathers side Grant of Scotch origin who was a successful real estate developer and entrepreneur. He was born into a time of wealth and grandeur only to survive the stock market crash and Great Depression of 29. he was a student at the university of Miami and Columbia university in New York , he graduated Juris Doctorate with honors. He became a successful defense trial attorney and he had a great record. He became a hospital owner and real estate developer entrepreneur. He was always there to help people be it an encouraging word or two . He was a great orator. He helped hundreds of people with his community at Palm Springs General Hospital in Hialeah, Florida with his trust for education for a scholarship fund that he created . He gave everyday to charity in write offs from his business. He married Ann Love who was his first wife and he married Patricia Mary Smith former National Airlines Flight Hostess. The had four children Oakley Jason, Vanessa Ley, Campbell Avery and Nicholas Tanksley . He maintained residences in Florida and Mexico . He is greatly missed , there will never be another person like him with his particular gifts, his generousity of spirit and strength. He is in our daily thoughts and prayers , he is greatly loved.
