My son and daughter bought me a membership to Storyworth. I'm sitting here writing a story about how I got into the Insurance business, and I began thinking about Norris. I looked up his name and found this. My sincere condolences to his family. Norris, through Dave Buckmaster, gave me a job selling motorcycles at Carmichael Honda in 1979, while I was learning the business. When Norris found out, he came to me and said "I don't care if you sell any motorcycles, but could you help us sell cars by providing insurance to the folks buying them? That was the catalyst for my 46 year career in the business and I, and my family are ever grateful. God Bless, George Swetland, Gardnerville, Nevada 08/17/2025.
Most people may not be aware that Norris Rancourt was one of the founders of American River Bank. Annually, the bank held a golf tournament entitled the “Christmas Promise Golf Tournament” the proceeds of which provided visits by Santa Claus with presents to families with children who might not otherwise have any Christmas. Norris was one of the major sponsors of this golf tournament and as such only played golf once or twice a year. As you are aware Norris raced motorcycles and cars and was very successful due to his athleticism and coordination. This coordination was evident once a year when he played golf. It only took him three or four holes to be striking the ball well to the envy of all he played with.

My sincere condolences to his entire  family and especially his daughters.  He always spoke so highly of them and enjoyed showing pictures of the girls  and his new auto store, this being many years ago of course.   After leaving American River Bank I lost touch with Norris as well as other Directors; however, his stories of the Car Business were always enjoyed by all.  I was saddened to read of his passing.  Most sincerely,  Marjorie Wood (Taylor)
Had not seen him in a while, we were at a community board meeting and we were setting next to each other,  He was still a lot of fun, always smiling and laughing at the weird things happening around COVID and the world.  The times I renumber the most was when he would sit outside by his garage, in the sun to collect his vitamin D.  We would talk about what he had done, the flying and traveling.  One year I saw him in Placerville walking on the streets shopping and I was on my bike.  He always seemed to have his big smile.

My condolences to Norris's family.

I first met Norris in the late 1950s when I was 16. He was a friend of my older brother Dan. They raced motorcycles together. I decided that I to wanted to race. I had a pickup truck that could haul two motorcycles, but Norris didn’t have a way to get to some races, so I trucked Norris and his bike to some of the out of town races. That was the beginning of a long relationship that lasted for nearly 70 years until his passing.

I worked for Norris at Carmichael Honda, several different times, starting in the late 1960s. I held a variety of positions including  parts manager and parts and service marketing manager. During the 1970s we traveled together to many Honda seminars, trade shows and conventions, always having a great time. Norris was usually a fun guy to be around and he really enjoyed a good laugh.

I will always have fond memories of our time together. He was a good friend and I will always remember him as a big part of my life.

Father of my good, dear, fun friend Laurie☺️

I have many fond memories of Norris at family get togethers, Halloween parties, Tahoe stories.   Fun, generous, wise and practical man who created a beautiful family legacy.  RIP Norris 💕

Connie and I express our deepest condolences during this time of loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of  Norris’s family.  He will be greatly missed in Provence Village. Our prayers are with you.
