Norman's obituary

Norman E. Savage, 81, died Monday, February 17, 2020 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, ID following a 16-year battle with cancer. “Bud” was born in Lowell, MA on April 17, 1938. He was a graduate of the Lowell Technical Institute in Lowell, MA in the field of carpentry. He served his country in the U.S. Army from late 1961 to late 1963 as an Army Tank Mechanic and was honorably discharged. He began his multifaceted wealth of craftsmanship with his employment at Barretto Granite in Milford, NH and ended his career by retiring after 17 years from the Westford Housing Authority in 2003 in Westford, MA. Along the way, some of his projects included setting the granite around the Westford Knight in Westford, MA and remodeling an antique home in Chelmsford, MA. His work was at the core of himself and instilled that in all he encountered. Along the way, he made countless friends who spoke highly of him throughout all the carpentry trades he was educated in.
Norman is predeceased by his parents, Rose M. Marmer and Benjamin Franklin Savage as well as his first wife of 30 years, Sandra A. (Elliott) before her death in 1994 and his close friend, Eugene (Gene) Salovitch and Andy Garside. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, June I (Trottier), his siblings Robert Savage (of Henniker, NH), Patricia McGuire (of Bowerbank, ME), and Daniel Reidy. He also leaves behind his children Brian Savage (of Leominster, MA), Mark Savage and Jecennia Orellana (of Deland, FL), Doreen Savage (of Tampa, FL), Paul Savage (of Tampa, FL), Norma Savage (of Fitchburg, MA), Shelley Savage (of Fitchburg, MA), Rebecca Thatcher and husband David (of Ashby, MA), Eric Savage (of Ashby, MA) as well as his step-children Robert Frost, Michael Frost, David Frost and Debbie Lavigne and husband Roland (of Black Canyon City, AZ). He leaves behind several nieces, nephews, 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Norman really enjoyed his time with his close friends, Allen Woodrum, Scott Hicks, Ida Giunta, and his longtime friend BUURRRT! His love of carpentry, cowboy attire, gardening, old skool FORDs, jellybeans, Swedish fish, MEAT and cocker spaniels rang true in all that he lived. One of his most favorite quotes to say was, “You can’t take it with you”.
There will be no visiting hours. Upon his wishes, his remains will be scattered along the North Rim, Grand Canyon, Arizona at a later date.
The family has designated The Cocker Spaniel Rescue of New England, http://csrne.org/, for memorial contributions.
