Norman's obituary

Norman Everett Hopkins, Jr., 58, of Pawtucket, RI, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at his home.

He was a 1984 graduate of Barrington High School. He worked for many years at Rhode Island Glass in Providence, rising to the rank of Vice President, and ultimately owning the company. He recently worked for Columbus Door Co. in Warwick.

Norman was known for his gregarious nature and larger than life personality. He had a remarkable ability to make friends wherever he went, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Among his many interests were camping, traveling, exploring Buddhism, discussing current events, and soaking up the rays at Misquamicut Beach. However, his greatest happiness came from spending quality time with his family, entertaining them with his wild and humorous stories.

Norman is preceded in death by his father, Norman E. Hopkins. He is survived by his mother, Beverly Ann (Carter) Hopkins of Barrington, and her companion Christian Borgen, as well as his stepmother, Marilyn Hopkins of Fall River. He leaves behind his brothers Clint Hopkins (and Betsy Dolan) of Barrington and Troy Hopkins (and Kim Hopkins) of Norwich, CT, along with his cherished nieces and nephews: Meredith and Darcy Hopkins of Norwich, CT, and Will and Caleb Hopkins of Barrington, RI.

Among Norman's deepest bonds was the one he shared with his beloved dog, Samantha. She was the love of his life and the two were inseparable. The friendships that Norman made at the Slater dog park where he and Samantha frequented, were very dear to him.

Norman Hopkins will be fondly remembered for his warm heart, infectious spirit, and loyalty to those he held dear. May he rest in peace, knowing he touched the lives of countless individuals with his kindness and laughter.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2024 from 10 AM-12 PM with a service to follow at 12 PM in the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence, RI. Burial will be private.
