NORMAN F. BEHLING
FORT PIERCE - February 3, 1933- February
11, 2022
Norman Behling, 89 of Fort Pierce Florida,
died Friday 2/11/2022, at home with his family
attending.
Born in Chicago, Illinois, he always had fond
memories of his hometown. One of 6 children,
he graduated from Lindblom High School and
attended Carthage College, in Carthage Illinois,
where he received his Bachelor Degree. At Northern Illinois University, he received his Master
of Science in Education Degree to advance in
the school curriculum. He worked in the Gavin
School District, in Northern Illinois, as a teacher
and administrator.
In the late 1960’s, a job opportunity presented
itself in Fort Pierce, Florida. He worked in the St.
Lucie County School District as an administrator
at several schools in the county and served as
the St. Lucie County Superintendent of Schools
1980-1984. He was the first principal of Westwood
High School and was proud of his “Win With
Dignity” platform. After retirement, he traveled
extensively within the United States and Canada,
visiting family and friends along the way. He filled
his later years with trike-cycle riding, crossword
puzzles and computer solitaire, along with yearly
visits back to his Chicago roots and family.
Survivors include, brother, George Behling
(Marilyn) of Burbank Il, daughter, Laura Fallin
(Greg) of Vero Beach FL, and several nieces and
nephews of 2 generations. His “smile” will be
missed by all. His loving wife Vi, preceded him
in death in 1989.
No services are planned. The family wishes to
thank Treasure Coast Hospice for their short, but
gratefully appreciated service. In lieu of flowers,
