Norma's obituary

Norma was born Norma Teresa Alonso in Cuba on January 31, 1930. In 1950, she immigrated to the United States in 1950 where she worked in the garment industry in New York City. She became a skilled seamstress and continued to sew as a hobby throughout her life. She married her husband Ed Opperman in 1958 and became a US citizen in 1959. They moved to Staten Island, NY, where she worked in retail, in 1975 and later retired to Bradenton, FL in 2003.

Norma lived every day guided by love for her family, zest for life and faith in God. She loved music and spent much of her time singing, dancing and playing piano. Her warm heart and vibrant personality made her an excellent hostess, and she loved to entertain and cook for family and friends. She was a dedicated member of the congregations of Calvary Assembly of God in Staten Island, NY and later Resonate Life Church in Bradenton, FL. She spent much of her time and talent volunteering in support of their ministries.

Norma will be missed by her devoted husband Ed, sister Leni Calabro, four children, Ron (Sharon) Felico, Dimas (Nadine) Felico, Linda (Ed) Pol and Edward Opperman, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
