Noriac's obituary
Noriac Dathis, an Agricultural Engineer hailing from Ouanaminthe, Haiti, peacefully passed away in Nashville, TN, on November 7, 2023. Born on April 7, 1956, to Berthelus Dathis and Philomène Pierre. Noriac was a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend known for his multifaceted talents and contributions to various aspects of life.
He is survived by his devoted spouse, Dr. Rolande Lindor Dorancy Dathis, their daughter, Norlande Dathis Menner and her husband, Austin Menner, and their son, Noriac Abe Dathis. He is also survived by his siblings, Daniès Dathis, Nobert Dathis, Huguette Dathis Pierre and her husband, Jean-Ive Pierre, Jusline Dathis Dorlis and her husband, Louis Dorlis. Noriac will also fondly be missed by many nieces and nephews. Of mention are his adopted children and their families: Hon. Judge Abdias Tida, Sergelynn Francois-Goodwin, Evena Telus, Kerline Romain, Cherlye Joseph, Guy and Sophonie Norcilus.
Noriac's life was a testament to his diverse skills and unwavering dedication. He co-founded the Institute of Consultation of Evaluation (ICEF) of which his mentor and friend, Sociologist Bernard Etheard remains. He held deep respect and gratitude for his other mentors, Agro Carl Monde and Agro Chavannes Jean Baptiste. Noriac was a published agro-economist with over thirty-five years of experience in Haiti, France, Jamaica, and the United States. He excelled as an agricultural engineer, specializing in the lives of farmworkers, coffee field production and distribution in Haiti. Noriac was a kind and gentle man, an adoptive father and mentor to many, a spiritual counsel and devout Christian, guiding people on their faith journey. His love for soccer, musical talents as a guitarist and singer, and passion for writing and research showcased his multifaceted nature, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.
