Nola's obituary
Nola May George passed peacefully on November 9, 2023 in Mesa, Arizona. She had just celebrated her 75th birthday.
Nola was born on October 12th 1948 at 11:40 pm in Portland, Oregon. She was the third child and first daughter of Dorothy and Nolan Holt.
Nola grew up in Portland and Hollywood.
Nola met her first husband Lloyd Hamlett when she was in high school and they married and had four children together. During part of this time she was a military wife.
Later she met her second husband Gary George. They wed and had two children. Gary and Nola had some very interesting jobs while they were together including running their own mom and pop restaurant and at one point a bait shop.
After her second marriage she moved back to Oregon with a large chunk of her family. She loved her family immensely and they clung to every bit of love she had to give.
While in Oregon she found her calling as a truck stop waitress where she made many friends. They all became so close it was like family. She spent many years going to country concerts and singing her heart out. She especially liked Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw. She enjoyed murder mystery novels and watching her favorite shows including Friends and the Big Bang Theory. Her favorite movie was Mamma Mia. She enjoyed collecting Mary Engelbreit decor and decorating for every season. She crocheted and knitted many things from baby clothes to big blankets. She loved cooking and was known for being a vegetarian. Her favorite activity was sitting at home on a rainy day with her dog Howie and drinking Candy Cane Lane Tea.
She is preceded in death by her parents Dorothy and Nolan Holt, her brother Bill, her husbands Lloyd Hamlett and Gary George and her son Nicholas.
She is survived by her brother Gary. Her children James, Lisa, Tina, Nicole and Gary Jr., nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Her Celebration of Life will be held in the springtime in Canby. Thank you to everyone who held a place in her heart. She was a blessing to us all and will forever be cherished and missed. She was our Queen Bee.
