Noel's obituary
Noel was born on May 14, 1944, in Rusk, TX. In 1951, his family moved to Jacksonville, TX. After graduating high school, Noel completed his Associate of Arts degree at Lon Morris Junior College. Upon completion of his Associate’s degree, Noel joined the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country for four years, achieving the rank of a Sergeant. After his military service, Noel returned to Stephen F. Austin State College, where he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees.
Noel then served in Education for 23 years in San Antonio and at Amarillo Tascosa High School, working as a high school teacher and in administration throughout his tenure. He loved teaching Business classes and Economics and was awarded Teacher of the Year twice. In 1998, Noel retired from Education and embarked on an unlikely, but successful, second career as a subcontractor with Home Depot installing window treatments.
Noel’s other interests included Church activities and music. He was a member of Shearer Hills Baptist Church in San Antonio, where he sang in the choir and served in the children’s ministry. A self-taught guitar player, Noel enjoyed playing and singing folk songs and Country and Western, cutting a 45 rpm that included a couple of songs that he wrote.
Noel’s joy in life was his service to children, both in his professional and personal life. Always a family man, he enjoyed family get-togethers and time spent with his family and friends. Dedicated to God, he lived a life that quietly shouted his Christian beliefs. Noel was loved by all and will be truly missed.
Rest in Peace my love.
