Nikki's obituary
Nikki Sue Abbott (née Medisch) passed away on October 24, 2025, of complications from liver cancer. Nikki grew up in Dayton, Ohio, the oldest of six children, and after marrying Jerry in 1969, they spent many years living all over the United States. She loved living out west and Albuquerque, New Mexico, always held a special place in her heart.
Mom had a long career with the Federal Aviation Administration, the last 15 or so years in Washington, D.C. She was proud to be a federal employee, only deciding to retire to spend more time with her grandkids. She loved to travel, especially trips with Pam and Steve Olson. Never one to sit on the beach, her favorite vacations were ones where she was on the go all day, finding the best shops and museums to visit.
If you knew mom, you know that above all else, mom loved her family. She never missed an opportunity to support her kids and grandkids, sitting through many music, dance, and sporting events – from marching band shows to soccer and baseball games. She loved living with Bre’s family (for 17 years!) and being just minutes away from Trin’s family, and was always happy to serve as substitute mom and grandma to our extended family. Holidays were her favorite time of year—she especially loved shopping for her grandkids, setting aside gifts all year long only to "lose" some to a too-good hiding place. We will miss her special Thanksgiving dishes, her marathon Costco trips, her holiday cards, her enthusiastic cheerleading and unwavering support. We were all lucky to have been the recipients of her love and devotion for so many years, and can't imagine how to go on without her.
Mom will be missed by so many - her husband of 56 years, Jerry, daughters Breana and Trinity, sons-in law she loved like sons, Recep and Eric, her grandchildren and lights of her life, Kerem, Ceyda, Feyza, Kasper, and Dagny, grand-dog Loki and grand-chickens too numerous to name, and her siblings, cousins, in-laws, and friends who meant so much to her.
