I was Nick's school counselor at Ithaca High School. He was a charismatic young man with a good sense of humor. I know he will be greatly missed by many. To lose a child at such a young age is a loss like no other.  Your love for him will live on forever.
Nick's passing has been heavy on my mind this week. All my love and support goes out to his family right now -- I'm hoping you all have come even closer in these trying times and have had the opportunity to find bits of light amidst this tragedy. My sister shared a memory of Nick with me the other day. Around 2011 (me and Nick's Junior year of HS), my sister had come back to Ithaca after living in Paris a few years. She was very open about feeling lost and disappointed with her life's recent trajectory and moving back at home. One night, she made my family a French dish she had learned while nannying there. It came out really poorly, and me and my family were quick to poke fun at her for the failed attempt at creating this authentic dish. Nick was staying over that night and joined for dinner. My sister will never forget that he was the only one who wouldn't admit the dish was awful. While nobody else wanted to touch the stuff, Nick literally helped himself to seconds, praised her cooking, and made my sister feel appreciated and supported in doing so.This was a really small gesture on Nick's part, but it goes to show how much he preferred to bring people up rather than bring them down. My family is so lucky and grateful to have been able to share time with Nick and hear his laughter fill our kitchen on numerous nights.

Nick’s passing is absolutely heartbreaking news.  I feel crushed, which must be only a fraction of what his family must be feeling right now.  His obituary describes him beautifully.  My deepest condolences to all.
Nick was the most genuine and charismatic person. I am so glad I was able to get to know him throughout our high school years in class and cross country. I still remember the day he showed up to practice without shorts and was asking around for an extra pair. I managed to have an extra (which were hot pink, of course.) He rocked those shorts and loved the extra attention :) Sending love to Nick and his family 💕
Beautifully written obituary! I feel fortunate to have met him, and am also extremely sad for his departure. ¡Un abrazo, Nick!
May you find peace where you are. May God Almighty comfort all your love ones you leave behind. Rest In Peace
I’m so very, very sorry Karen. I can’t imagine what you and your family are going through. Sending lots of love and hugs 💕
