Nick's obituary

Nick Hedlund, 72, of North Saint Paul, MN passed away peacefully on September 20, 2024.

Nick grew up in Saint Paul, surrounded by close extended family.

In his early years he Majored in South Asian Languages at the University of Minnesota and spent time out in Pakistan following his graduation.

He was a proud member of the 851st ASA, stationed in Kitzingen, Germany. This was after studying Russian translation through the Army.

After the Army, he moved to Southern California. During his years in California, he became a Ski Instructor and spent his spare time shooting and camping in the high desert with friends. He worked in Gemology and later started his own security business, based in Long Beach, CA.

Nick married and moved back home to Minnesota to be closer to family.  He was a passionate entrepreneur and started his own Pawn shop in Saint Paul, among a few other ventures. In his later years he worked for GARDA as an armed guard.

Nick will be dearly missed and always remembered for his larger than life character and knowledgeable mind.

Nick was predeceased by his Father, Oliver V. Hedlund, Mother, Gladys Marie Hedlund (Schawang) and beloved Aunts and Uncles. He is survived by his sister Tyann Puckett.

Nick requested a small celebration of life be held in his honor as opposed to traditional funeral services.

We request all of Nick’s loved ones to join us in celebrating his wonderful life on October 23rd 2024 at Fort Snelling for an Honors Ceremony, followed by toasting his life at one of his favorite restaurants - Boca Chica. Details listed above.
