Nicholas Phillps-Whittington Obituary
Nicholas James "Nick" Phillps-Whittington, age 6, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2025, from complications of cystic fibrosis. He was born on April 24, 2018, in Akron, Ohio.
Nick was a bright and kind-hearted child who brought joy to those around him.
He had a deep love for books and cherished his visits to the library whenever his health allowed. His favorite places to go were Chuck E. Cheese and the library, where he found happiness and adventure.
He is survived by his adopted mother, Sara Whittington; adopted father, Randy Phillips; biological aunt, Heather Canaan; siblings, Elizabeth Gates, Andrew Phillips, Oliver Phillips, Rachel Hale, Gabby Miller, and Edward Bainbridge-Whittington; great-grandmother, Mary-Lou Swearengin; grandmother, Jacalyn Whittington; and cousins, Stella Gates, David Gates, and Eric Gates. He will also be missed by many other family members and friends.
Nick was preceded in death by his birth mother, Ashley; adopted sister, Eleanor Whittington; great-grandfather, Ralph E. Swearengin; great-grandparents, Carl and Barbara Whittington; adopted aunt, Angie Whittington; great-uncle, David Gates; and uncle, Jason Phillips.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home in Grove City (3393 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio). A funeral service will take place on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial at Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Hilliard, Ohio. A luncheon for family will follow at St. Stephen's Church (4131 Clime Road, Columbus, Ohio).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Columbus Metropolitan Libraries.
