Nick's obituary
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Nicholas Peter Papageorge "Nick" on July 1, 2025, at the age of 67. Nick was a cherished member of our community, known for his kind heart, steadfast work ethic, great sense of humor, and passionate spirit.
Nick was a beacon of strength and love to his surviving family members. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 35 years, Mary Mounsey Papageorge, his loving daughter, Nicole Papageorge-Murphy, his caring sister, Elizabeth Papageorge, and his adored niece, Katy Strawther. He was predeceased by his mother, Helen Manikas Sliwa, his step-father, Edward Sliwa, and his father, Peter Nicholas Papageorge.
A man with a stubborn yet loving nature, Nick relished spending quality time with his friends and family. He was often seen checking out local parks, riding wave runners on Lake Conroe, or taking motorcycle rides through back country roads. Being a man of simple pleasures, he held a particular fondness for Shiner Bock, the color blue, and "Carry On My Wayward Son" by The Haygoods. Nick's favorite vacation getaway was their condo in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico.
Locally, he held a special place in his heart for Spring Creek Park and New Kentucky Park, where he took his dogs often. However, it was not the places he frequented, but the love and warmth he brought with him that will be missed the most.
Nick's legacy is a loving family and his first grandchild due in January 2026. His strong work ethic is a guiding light for those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He is remembered as a caring anchor who made the world around him a little brighter. His memory will live on in the hearts of everyone whose life he touched. He will be missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at one of his favorite local hangouts, Lambeau's Sport Bar and Grill, 13131 Louetta Rd., Cypress, TX 77429. You are welcome to join us to share the stories of a life well lived.
In lieu of flowers, please donate for a Memorial Bench to be dedicated to Nick at Spring Creek Park in Tomball, TX where he enjoyed many years of taking his dogs for walks. Venmo: @Mary-Papageorge or Zelle: 713-569-0025
