Nick and I shared a few thing…
2020
Nick and I shared a few things in common. First, we both LOVED the outdoors. We also were teachers at Ute Pass Elementary so we actually also shared car rides up the pass to school. I remember the first few days of getting ready for school, he'd be in the Library blasting good music. The song "Electric Feel" by MGMT is one I can remember playing. I will always think of him when I hear this song! I had the best time getting to know him and be his friend at Ute Pass. I later had the honor of interviewing him after his survival on Shavano for an Adventure on Tap we did digitally for UpaDowna during COVID. He was a big supporter of our outdoor nonprofit and I know he is continuing to live his adventures, pain free. You will be missed!!!!!
Nick was an amazing man and always a shining light wherever he was. While the times he and I shared were few, his impact on my life was profound. He will forever be missed.

Our family is so sad to learn about Nick’s death. Both of my boys had Mr. Noland as a teacher. They remember him as a talented and inspiring person who always saw good in everything. Our deepest sympathy for Nick’s family. We are praying for Nick and the whole family.
Mr. Noland was an incredibly talented and inspiring man. The last time I saw him he had his guitar and we sang together in Manitou until I started to lose my voice, it is one of my favorite experiences.  He motivated me to put myself out there, whether that was through writing, or through music. There’s not many people like him. ❤️

Mr. Noland was one of the best teachers I ever had. No matter who you were or what you were interested in, he did his best to make you feel included and like you mattered. He introduced me to new ways of thinking about the world. He encouraged us to be free thinkers. He encouraged us to be good people, and to put thought behind our actions. I’m so sorry
Mr. Noland, when you were my teacher back in 8th grade, you were just so much fun. You would make everyone laugh and smile and just let us be ourselves. You will be greatly missed! I pray for comfort upon your family and friends. Rest in peace🕊️
I had Mr. Noland for English in both 6th and 8th grade at MSMS. I remember his heart for adventure and how his stories about the Appalachian Trail would spark the desire for adventure within my own heart. But more than his stories of adventure, I remember the way Mr. Noland’s face shone with joy when he spoke of his wife and his excitement in becoming a dad. So whatever struggles beset him, my core memory of Mr. Noland is the love he had for his wife and his boys. To Maggie and the whole Noland  family, you are all in my prayers as is Mr. Noland.
Truly an inspiring man, taught a lot of us that we could do something with what we had, no matter how little. I hope he rests well.
Mr Noland taught ny friends and I how to play music, which for all of us, is the only thing we really got. Noland was the most genuine and caring person Ive ever met. from new york and washington DC to busking on the streets, Noland was always there spreading positivity and fun! All of us will miss him so much. What a tough trooper and an amazing person.
