Nicholas's obituary
It’s with tremendous sadness to share that Nicholas Evan Miller passed away suddenly on February 4th in his home in Portland, Oregon, at age 34, from natural causes. Nick was a loving son to his mother Troy, his father John, and stepmother Bobbi, and an amazing sibling to his only brother John. He was incredibly funny, smart, creative, kind, handsome. Always smiling and positive, he could win over anyone with kindness and attentiveness to the sorts of small details that only the truly empathetic possess.
Nick was low-key and quiet, the kind of dark horse that would surprise you with his travels (NZ, Australia, Europe, US), his creativity (including his video series Nick Monkey, MD) and his intelligence. He was about to graduate with his master's degree and enter into a life that would have opened to him with ease and a modest charm that was his specialty. He was home-focused yet adventurous, with an eye towards making sure people felt comfortable, and he possessed an ability to easily slide into groups with good nature and grace. There are some people that just put you at ease, even just by entering a room. Nick was one of them.
Nick was born in Seattle, graduated from Kamiak High School and Pacific Lutheran University, and made his home in Portland. He found happiness, love, and comfort in the drizzling rain and soaring volcanoes, the waterfalls and dense forests of the Pacific Northwest. We wish we could have been there, at his side, both in person and in spirit, as his wonderful life unfolded. We’ll miss him as a son, brother, friend, partner, co-worker, and MarioKart competitor.
Nick is survived by a large loving family and will be laid to rest in a private ceremony. Nick had a passion for saving sea turtles; donations in his name can be made to SEE Turtles, a sea turtle conservancy in Oregon. The donation link is on this website under "Donate".
