Nicholas David “Rowdy” Combs

July 22, 1984 – July 9, 2024

Nicholas “Rowdy” David Combs, a beloved son, brother, father, and fiancé, passed away on July 9, 2024, just shy of his 40th birthday. Born to Sandra J. Miller and Thomas Patrick Combs in Washington, Missouri, Nick found his true home at the unique confluence of the Meramec and Big Rivers in Eureka, Missouri. This idyllic setting provided the backdrop for a life filled with nature’s bounty and the rhythm of bluegrass music.

Nick leaves behind a loving family, including his son, Levi Clay Combs, shared with his mother Catherine Kelly; his Fiancée, Kayla Theiss, who is expecting their daughter Dahlia Cadelle Combs; his brother Pat Combs; and half-siblings Amber Smith and Michael Braun. He joins his parents, beloved sister-in-law, Courtney Combs, and others who preceded him in death.

Nick’s spirit echoed the free-flowing rivers he lived upon and the music he played. A free spirit with a deep love for nature, Nick cherished attending music festivals and concerts with his friends, celebrating the unbridled joy of live music.

His love for bluegrass music, instilled by his father Tommy Combs, led to countless jam sessions with friends and family, filling his home with warmth and melody. Nick embraced the outdoors, finding joy in hunting, fishing, artifact and mushroom hunting, woodworking, landscaping, and art.

He was a patient teacher, a generous friend, a creative soul, and a loving father. His kindness, charisma, and free spirit will forever be remembered by those who knew him.

Nick's memory will live on in the gentle flow of the Big River, the melodies of bluegrass music that once filled his home, and the hearts of those who shared his love for the outdoors and his simple, unconfined way of life. A true free spirit, Nick will forever be remembered.
