NGOC's obituary

  • Obituary: LÊ ĐỨC NGỌC

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather passed away on October 14, 2023. He was 87 years-old.

We sorely miss him. Everyone who had met him remembers his smiling eyes and good nature. Folks at the senior center where he lived always commented on his long morning walk before his sickness.

Born in coastal town Phan Thiet, Binh Thuan Vietnam on December 21, 1937, he attended a medical school in Saigon but joined the South Vietnam army in his last school years to serve his country. He was an intelligent, humble, and highly educated person who was able to read and communicate in French and English fluently.

After the collapse of the South Vietnamese government in 1975, he was interned in the communist concentration camp for more than 10 years.

On February 24, 1994, our family arrived in the U.S under the sponsorship of the American goverment. Since then, he lived and enjoyed his freedom and duty in this free country while carrying a humble job at Little America hotel.

After retirement, he devoted himself to studying Buddhism at home. He was very dedicated to his faith. His legacy lives on. We are grateful for the beautiful moments we had with him, for his intelligence and good natured personality.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Minh Phan; seven lucky children Thiên Kiều, Thiên Kim, Trang Đài, Thiên Thanh, Phước Tuấn, Phước Tú, and Kim Long and seven grandchildren, Allen, Emily, Nguyên, Khôi, Vinh, Bình, and bé Nhi (Ashley), sons in-law, sister in-law, many nephews, and nieces who will all miss him dearly.

A viewing will be held on Friday, Oct 20th at 5:30-7 pm at McDougald Funeral Home (4330 S Redwood Rd, Taylorsville, UT 84123) .

Funeral service will begin at 12-2 pm Saturday Oct 21, 2023 at the same location.
