Nerissa's obituary

On Wednesday, September 11, Nerissa Opalia March (nee Mora) passed away in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

Nerissa was born on April 24, 1968 in Surigao City, Philippines and immigrated to the United States in 1979 with her mother and siblings. She graduated from Central High School in Omaha, Nebraska and attended both the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Hawaii at Hilo. Blessed with an adventurous spirit and entrepreneurial nature, Nerissa enjoyed different professional experiences as a flight attendant, online sales person, and real estate associate broker. She also worked with her husband in his family’s business in Le Mars, Iowa.

Nerissa’s life was focused on her husband, family, friends and faith. She considered her greatest accomplishments to be a caring wife, daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend as well as a doting aunt to her numerous nieces and nephews. She is affectionately remembered by her loved ones for her warmth, generosity, and fun-loving personality. Nerissa’s faith and humanitarian interests led her to be involved in various charitable events and organizations. She also had a passion for travel and food. Nerissa loved visiting Disney World and relished frequent trips with her family.

Nerissa was preceded in death by her father, Nicomedes Mora, Sr. and her mother-in-law, Jane March. She is survived by her loving husband, Peter March; her devoted mother, Naomi Peterson (nee Opalia) and husband Don Peterson; her sister, Nanette Diamond and husband Ty and children Tabetha, Steven, Breanna, Nico and Cloie; her brother, Nixon Mora and children Nikko, Gillian, and Zion; her sister, Nancy Hogan and husband Matt and children Ashley, Brooke, Dylan, and Morgan; her brother, Nick Mora and children, Joshua and Timothy; her sister, Lorraine Corrill and husband Eric and children Nathan, Eric III, Ethan and Aubrey; her brother, Gilbert Anson, Jr.; her father-in-law, Jack March; her brother-in-law, Jeff March and partner Sam Kivi; her brother-in-law, Mike March; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins from her Opalia, Mora, and March families, and three great-nephews Giovanni, Sebastian, Kameryn, and one great-niece, Sophia.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, the Lupus Foundation of America or the National Kidney Foundation.

To honor her, Nerissa would wish for you to live your life inspired by your faith in the Lord.
