Nelson's obituary

Nelson Sherman Harbin, a formidable yet caring gentleman, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025. He was born on October 15, 1932, and lived a life full of service and devotion to his loved ones and community.

He is survived by a large, loving family including his wife, Linda Harbin, his children; Charles Harbin, Bona Regas (Jim Regas), Janet Tetreault (Curt Tetreault), Richard Harbin, Davalyn Seay (Jack Seay), Michael Harbin (Camille Harbin), and Jan Owen (David Owen).  Nelson was blessed with a host of grandchildren; Alaina and Jason Harbin, Jordan Regas, Kelly Adrian, Ricky, Traevon and Anthony  Regas, Tyler and Jackson Tetreault, Amber, Allan and Cora Harbin, Geoffrey Harbin, Virginia Brevaldo, Jessey O'Neal, Sarah Coy, Alexis Moore, Anton and Mitchell Harbin. And many great grandchildren.  Nelson was predeceased by his wives, Gladys and Merline Harbin, his daughter, Sharon O'Neal, and his granddaughters, Samantha Regas and Ann Harbin.

Nelson started his professional journey in 1955 with the Airforce. In 1962, he moved on to Avco and later joined Metropolitan Life Insurance in 1967. He retired in 1990, having led a storied career across different industries.

Harnessing his formidable personality for good, Nelson was an active attendee of the Church of Christ and a devoted volunteer at McKinney Medical Center Hospital. His service to others was an extention of the faith he had in God, the love he had for his community, and a testament to his belief in helping others.

Some of Nelson's greatest accomplishments included his volunteer work. He wholeheartedly believed in putting God first, a lesson he imparted to all who knew him. This legacy of placing God at the forefront of one's life is one that his loved ones will carry forward.

A celebration of Nelson's life will be held on October 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Grand Reserve in McKinney, Texas. Let us remember Nelson for his generosity, his commitment to service, and his caring nature. He was truly loved and will be deeply missed.
