Neil's obituary

Neil Q Richter was born in Tacoma Washington on October 8th, 1957 to Ernest and Leila Richter.  He was the youngest of 11 children. After a struggle with cancer, he went home to be with our lord on February 14, 2021, while surround by family and loved ones in his daughter’s home, in Kennewick Washington.

Neil Richter lived in Tacoma, and relocated to Othell during his pre-teen years.  His family than relocated to West Richland where he attended Hanford High and Graduated the class of 1976.

He met and married the love of his life, Terry Carpenter, November 11, 1978.  In 2017, after over 20 years at Tyson foods, he took a medical retirement.  He spent the last three years of his life making memories with family, and fighting Multiple Myeloma cancer.

Neil was more than anything else an amazing Grandpaw, Daddy, and Husband. He loved to do anything with and for his family.  He could often be found tinkering with something.  He was your go to guy for any repairs or broken part, even took time to help via video phone calls.  Breakfast was always his favorite meal to cook for anyone, and I am sure that everyone remembers his second to none waffles and homemade syrup.  Neil was a rare man full of love and compassion.  If you were to ask him how many kids he has he couldn’t tell you, as aside from the two girls that were his, he had a dozen more that adopted him.  He was a guide and father figure to many.

He was preceded in death by both his parents Ernest and Leila Richter, Russel and Doris Carpenter, his brothers Lenn, Jess and Ray Richter, sister Leah Lumbert, brother in law Lee Lumbert, sister in law Corrine Richter, brother in law Russel Carpenter, sister in law Donna Plante and her husband Rod Plante, and niece Arlene Barns.
He is survived  by his wife Terry Richter, daughters Becky Richter and Amy Jensen (husband Bryan Jensen), grand kids Carson and DesiRay Haldeman, brothers Kerry, Mark and Keith, sisters Myra, Myrna, and Rita, and a large extended family consisting of dozens of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
