I met Neil through my sister in Mississauga many years ago. When I moved to Naples he helped with my house renovation and was a good friend to me. We shared coffee on occasions, swapped stories and laughed a lot. Rest in Peace, Neil.
In response to "What act of kindness did you witness from Neil?"

May his memory be eternal. The Wicks family will always remember Neil for being kind, strong and lighthearted. I hope the best for you and your family.

Condolences to Aileen & Ralph, Kirsten and Seraphina and Audrianna. Although, I never met Neil, I heard of his battle through his parents and felt that he had the strength of a lion. Unfortunately, his bravery has been cut short but I know that he will go onto another adventure.

I met Neil through hockey - He and my husband played with the Sharks in Toronto - I used to go to the bar after their game and one time something happened that made me realize what a great friend he was.
When he was diagnosed I was told that the chance of recovery was high so I didn’t really worry about it; Wish we could have seen him one more time, although the last time that I actually saw him was truly hilarious so I’m glad I have that last memory of him.
I also had the opportunity to take care of his dog - Lady - without realizing that that would be the beginning of my second career as a dog sitter.
To his wife and girls and the rest of the family, I wish you strength during this time. It’ll get better <3

I knew Neil from the Sharks hockey team in Oakville/Toronto. We also had a blast on golf weekends and trips to Montreal/Florida. Over the years, I often said that Neil lived enough for multiple lifetimes - always up for anything! He was the life of the party, but aware and sensitive enough to interact with everyone. During his health battle, I got to see Neil and his three beautiful ladies in the hospital, and he was part of a chat group that communicates daily. He never complained, but remained honest, up-beat, grateful and generous throughout. He will be badly missed, but among his hockey buddies, his legend will live on effortlessly in stories.
