Neil's obituary
Neil Ward Brown
September 24, 1961 - May 12, 2023
Neil Ward Brown, 61, of Gaston, South Carolina, passed away Friday, May 12, 2023. He had a brief struggle with an illness in his final days. . He graduated Midlands Technical College in 1981 and worked with radiator repair until he was able to become owner/operator of his own shop, Lexington Radiator. He lived an extraordinary life being a free bird and doing what he wanted. He loved being near the water and near the woods. He had many friends and acquaintances who knew and loved him.
Neil was having a lot of troubles from his surgery and on April 24, he prayed "for about 30 minutes" asking Jesus to heal him and help him find the bleed from his surgery. He said, "Jesus was in that trailer with me. It was awesome." All of a sudden he heard what sounded like a gun shot and felt a pain in his stomach like he had never felt before. He thought he had been shot. An ambulance was called and when he got to the hospital, he told the nurse, "The bleed is right here." The nurse checked and it was there. He asked, "Are you a doctor?" Neil said, "No, Jesus told me where it was." Neil later told me, "I believe!" He was telling everyone his story. Neil will be dearly missed but we will see him again in heaven.
He was the son of the late Frank Kendrick Brown and Jean Tall Grist Brown, and was predeceased by his brothers Philip K. Brown and Marion G. Brown (Susan). Surviving are his two sisters, Shirley Lyles (Steve), Gayle Stevenson (Richard), and his brother Glenn E. Brown (Donna), and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 21, at 3 p.m., at New Heritage Church, 3109 Leaphart Road (at Mineral Springs Rd); West Columbia, SC, 29169. There will be a private burial at a later date.
The family is asking those who attend to bring any pictures they have of Neil to share with friends and loved ones. If anyone wants to share a story, or stories of Neil, please feel free to be prepared to share at the memorial service.
