Nathan's obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Nathan Michael Hicks, who was taken from us too soon on May 12th, 2024 at the tender age of 34. He brought immeasurable joy and light into our lives with his kind heart and radiant smile. Though his time with us was brief, the depth of love and happiness he shared will forever remain in our hearts.
Nathan leaves behind his parents Mike and Sandy Hicks, sister Natalie, and his three children, Mitch age 10, Trayden age 6, and Matteo age 4. He loved his children very much. He was a playful and fun dad who loved to find adventures with them. This included trips to Kings and Coney Island, climbing trees, swimming, running through fields, picking flowers, playing hand drums, and finger painting. He was the kind of dad that let them walk barefoot and feel the grass, encouraged them to watch the clouds, and pay attention to the energy around them.
Those who knew Nathan know how full of love and life he could be. He wanted nothing more than for everyone to feel love, acceptance and to live a life full of the most fulfilling experiences. He spent several years frequenting events with live music, going on camping trips to be in nature, and spent time writing, painting, or drawing. To his friends, they knew him as Breeze Kaleidoscope Cosmic. Breeze, because he always wanted to be moving, meet new people, and see new places. Kaleidoscope, which is made of broken pieces, but when you look into it, you see something beautiful. Cosmic, referring to the cosmos, which encompasses the entire universe and all that exists within it.
Through all the good times and the bad, at the core of Nathan’s heart, he had a profound purpose to share a message of love and kindness. Though Nathan is no longer with us to share this message, he would encourage everyone to consider how they can share more kindness and love. Challenge yourself to reflect on your judgments, practice compassion and forgiveness, appreciate and respect people’s differences, and give compliments and smiles as often as you can.
In one of Nathan's last messages to family and friends he shared,
“Don't lose the love in your hearts, don't let a cold world turn you colder, when it's so easy to harden our hearts..... Guard your heart with radiant love...... It's been some rough days for a lot of us going through all sorts of pain. I wish you healthy healing from your suffering, out of pain comes strength and growth....... Much love”.
