I’ve been trying to think of one specific time I could share about Nate that I cherished. But there is so many. Nate was one of a kind. I’ve never met someone that was so selfless, loving, and kind. We met in high school through friends and lacrosse. It was always good to know that there was another lacrosse goalie I could bond with. He was an amazing player and so hard working. Nate and I started to become closer outside of lacrosse through friendships and relationships. The times we shared were some of the most fun times ever. I remember our trips to Mexican restaurants, the friend group sleepovers, the trip to Wintergreen, and the trips to the river. Nate was the funniest person in the room always, and never failed to make anyone he met laugh. He taught me to be patient, kind, and to have fun. I wish we could go on more trips, have more hangouts, and even have some of our lacrosse friends shoot on us. He was taken too soon but I know he is in a better place and is looking down on everyone. I will always remember everything you have taught me and done for me. Until we meet again, Nate. Thank you for being you. 🩷

Emily brought a few friends including myself down to the lake last summer, and after a long day of tubing and swimming, we had finally settled down. Nate had asked me if I was interested in USC and I said I was, and he followed by sharing hilarious memories and stories he had made his last couple of years at USC. I remember laughing for hours! Nate was always Emily’s cool older brother who truly brought light to any room he was in. From all the lake trips, USC visits, and simply just seeing him around the Baker house, Nate’s personality shined through in every single one of his conversations and relationships. Nate was such a bright soul, and I am so grateful to have had the pleasure of knowing such an amazing person.

I was so fortunate to have gotten close with Nate early on in high school. He truly was a one-of-a-kind human. I remember I was so excited to get new speakers installed in my car but couldn’t figure out where to go to get it done. Nate, the handyman he is, kindly offered to install my speakers for me. He spent all day installing them while we sat outside of my house and paid zero attention to our Zoom classes and just laughed about stupid stuff. It took multiple hours, but he was still so willing to do it for me and had a smile the whole time. That really was the kind of guy he was. From driving around together to making him come to Target with me to waste my money on stupid stuff, Nate was always the best company, and I am so blessed to have gotten the chance to get to know him. You could truly tell him anything.

When I was thinking back to my favorite moment with Nate, I started to think about all the time I spent with him, and all the times we would interact with each other. I cannot remember a single negative experience I ever had with him. He would walk up, always smiling, always happy to see you, ready to hear about whatever is going on in your life. You would talk to him and you could tell he truly wanted to be having this conversation, and responded as if he really cared about it, because he did. He was never not himself, was always optimistic, and was an incredible energy to be present around. He was truly a remarkable person, and we are all blessed to have met him and to have been lucky enough to call him a friend. The worst happens to the best people because it takes the best people to create an everlasting impact. Nate Baker was the best people. He was the best of us, was a role model to us all, and his impact will never be forgotten. You will forever be within our thoughts and prayers, and I personally can’t wait to see you again, walking up to me smiling, ready to catch up on the time we’ve missed out together. Rest easy.

when we were young, we had seen videos of people running at each other full speed with yoga balls on their chests, so we tried it. i remember i flew backwards when we collided and i fell and hit my head on the ground. my birthday was a few days prior, so Dan came up and asked how old i was, and i gave the wrong answer since my birthday was so recent. i think we were all worried i had a concussion, but i remember this all like it happened yesterday so i don’t think i did! i’ll miss those fun times.
