Nancy Zoe Olander Weir died unexpectedly on November 25, 2023, while setting up an event for the Calusa Land Trust on Pine Island, FL. She was born on May 29, 1950, the third daughter of Palmer M. and Zola Curtis Olander. Her early school years were spent in San Francisco, and she graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Long Beach, CA, in 1968.

She was a sailor and commercial fisherperson in Santa Barbara as well as one of the first creators of a health food restaurant in CA in the 1970s. She loved the Sanibel

beach in Florida, and helped build her own home on Cayo Costa.

Nancy was born with a sweet and loving spirit that won her friends throughout life and motivated her to help others, volunteering her time towards causes she believed in. Her passions on Pine Island were working with the Calusa Land Trust, St. John's Episcopal Church, and Moonshine Acres Horse Farm. She loved horses since she was a child and was happy grooming and riding them.

She shared her love of horses with her second husband, Kelly Weir, and they spent several years training horses in Lexington, KY, before moving to Florida. They also shared a love of the ocean and being on the water; they enjoyed a beautiful voyage to Sanibel with family just two days before she died. Kelly and Nancy owned a housecleaning business on Pine Island.

Nancy's lovely spirit of kindness and regard for others, her authenticity, straightforwardness, and love of nature endeared her to her many friends and family. As one friend said, "She had such a light." We hope to continue to carry that light in our hearts in her memory.

She was predeceased by her beloved daughter Welcome Rachel McNamara, who suffered from schizoaffective disorder. Nancy dedicated herself to Rachel's welfare and worked tirelessly to improve things for Rachel and others with mental illness.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Kelly Weir, of Pine Island; her sisters Diana Hammer, Valerie Huebner (Alan Markert), and Susan Olander; Kelly's daughter Kristy (Andy) Reuter and their daughters Liv and Ellie; Kelly's son Terry (Ashley) Rack and their children Addison, Paisley, Davis, and Gabe; Kelly's brother Michael (Sarah) Weir; and nieces and nephews Loic and Joshua Humbert (Celeste Brash), Carl Huebner (Ksenia Sidorova), Olan Huebner, Alyssa Hammer (Dion Palmer and daughter Gigi), Callie Hammer (Nick Sauls) and Jasmine and Tevai Humbert.
