Nancy's obituary
Nancy Nelson (née Campion) November 24, 1941 – January 12, 2025
Nancy Nelson, born on November 24, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025, in Mundelein, Illinois, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.
The beloved daughter of John and Dorothea Campion, Nancy grew up surrounded by love and laughter alongside her sisters Gwen Lendvay and Pattiann Short. Her life was a tapestry woven with the threads of family devotion and cherished connections that spanned generations.
Nancy was a devoted mother to her three children: Caron Greenan (William Atella), Lorelee Major (Jim Haggard), and Kirstin Nelson-Aissen (Dirk Aissen). She found immense joy in being a grandmother to Kelley Greenan; Tim and Trevor Janis; Annamarie Major; and Amber Nelson, and 3 great grandchildren. Though her heart endured the loss of two grandchildren, Jack Greenan and Dominic Vechiola, it is comforting to imagine her reunion with them at Heaven’s gate.
Throughout her life, Nancy’s warmth radiated like sunlight to all who knew her. Her presence brought comfort and strength to those around her—a testament to the depth of her love for family and friends alike. She will be remembered not only for the bonds she nurtured but also for the legacy of kindness she leaves behind. May Nancy’s memory serve as a source of solace for those who mourn her passing and as an enduring reminder of the beauty she brought into this world.
We are respecting Nancy's wishes and will not be having a funeral or memorial service.
