Nancy's obituary
Nancy Mullen – a loving mother and grandmother, and kind and compassionate friend to all, passed away on October 22, 2022 at the age of 63 in St. Petersburg, Florida. Nancy fought a brief but tough battle with cancer.
Nancy was born to Edward and Elizabeth Brooks and grew up in Leonia, New Jersey. She was part of a loving family and the youngest of her siblings Mary, Eddie, and Tommy. Nancy lived in New Jersey and New York near her extended family for many years until later relocating to Florida with her immediate family. Nancy met her husband Andrew “Andy” and they wed in their early twenties. They spent many years together in which they had two beautiful daughters, Erin and Molly. Nancy loved her daughters immensely, and her life was driven by being there for them in every way. Although later divorced, Nancy and Andy remained close friends while being present in their daughters’ and grandson's lives. They enjoyed going to lunch together on a weekly basis.
Nancy led a life full of a wide variety of experiences. From the medical field to education, from hospitality to sales, Nancy had dipped her toe in many industries but her passion was always her family. However, in her final years, Nancy enjoyed the flexibility to work from home while truly living life to the fullest. Nancy would spend her free time by the pool with her dogs or at the beach, enjoying the sun and sand. Nancy loved water in any form. When not near water, Nancy was exploring farmer’s markets and museums, attending concerts, eating Indian food, or listening to a unique collection of music.
Nancy was a genuine, kind, and caring person. She made friends with everyone she met and was loved by all. She had a fun and unique sense of humor in which she could often be caught prank-calling people with her daughters and grandson. She loved to watch Seinfeld and cherished laughter and jokes. She was a bright light in the world who always saw the good in people, and she always shared what she had with others. She lived life helping others in need, and always put others in front of herself.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her older brother Eddie. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, grandson, siblings, nieces and nephews, and pets, who all miss her dearly.
Memorial services will be intimate and private, as Nancy would have wanted. Her family will embark on a boat ride in her honor in which they will listen to her favorite music, indulge in her favorite foods, share memories of her humor and kindness, and honor the impact she made on the world.
