Nancy's obituary
Nancy May (Park), age 71, passed away on March 27, 2025, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Born on March 17, 1954, in Wyoming, Michigan, Nancy lived a life marked by resilience, deep love for family, and an unwavering spirit.
Nancy was the beloved wife of Wayne May and a devoted mother to Adrienne Sinclair, Benjamin Park-May, and Alex Park-May. Their family grew to include cherished grandchildren: Arianna Ebright, Nathaniel Snead, Alexis Rogan, Benjamin Park-May Jr., Paige Park-May, Alex Park-May Jr., Ava Park-May, and Addilynne Park-May. Nancy also had the joy of welcoming great-grandchildren Brandon Ebright Jr., Kayleigh Ebright, Xyla Snead, and Nalaya Snead into her life. She is also remembered by her sister Vicky Rich.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Barbara Park, and her brother Gerry Rich.
Family was at the heart of everything Nancy did. She found immense joy in watching her children grow into adulthood and took even greater delight in seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren thrive. Her favorite time of year was Christmas—a season that brought together her two greatest loves: family and food. Nancy had a particular fondness for trying new cuisines and especially enjoyed authentic Chinese dishes.
Beyond her role as a matriarch, Nancy’s life was defined by extraordinary courage in the face of adversity. At the age of 50, she suffered a massive heart attack that would change the course of her life. Despite a grim prognosis nine years later due to extensive heart damage, Nancy chose hope. She enrolled in a clinical trial for an artificial heart pump designed to extend the lives of heart disease survivors while they awaited transplants.
Nancy’s decision not only gave her twelve more precious years with her loved ones but also contributed significantly to medical science. Her participation helped lead to FDA approval of the very device that sustained her—offering hope to countless others facing similar battles. During those twelve years with the heart pump, Nancy witnessed the birth of four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren—milestones she might not have otherwise seen.
Her strength and determination were matched only by her warmth and generosity. Whether gathered around a holiday table or sharing stories over a favorite meal, Nancy created lasting memories that will be treasured by all who knew them.
May their memory bring comfort to those who knew them and inspiration to all who hear their story.
To honor Nancy’s wishes, a public service will not be held. Instead, the family will come together for a small private celebration of life gathering. In lieu of flowers, you may send donations to help the family with medical and end of life expenses.
