Nancy's obituary
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Nancy Lincoln Davis Lamb on December 14, 2025. Born on April 25, 1945, Nancy lived a vibrant, fulfilling life, full of love, joy, and creativity.
Nancy is survived by her partner, Richard DuBosque; her two children, Robert William (Renee) Lamb, Jennifer Lamb Hendricks and her partner Patrick; two grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Hendricks and Joshua Christopher (Katelyn) Hendricks; and her beloved cats, Chessie and Maddie.
A life-long Lutheran, Nancy served her churches in many capacities, including as church secretary and council member; and she played in the handbell choir for several years.
Nancy was retired from Hare Wynn Newell & Newton, where she worked as a legal secretary for three decades. Her influence extended well beyond her professional life, touching many hearts in many different ways.
Nancy’s passions were as diverse as they were numerous. An avid reader (she loved a good crime novel), she passed her joy of reading on to her children and grandchildren. Nancy enjoyed traveling and was able to visit several countries while on cruises. Having been born and raised in Miami, Florida, she especially enjoyed trips to the beach. Using the handle "chocolatelovernancy" on numerous websites and as her email address, she had a daily ritual of enjoying some form of chocolate. Nancy often baked chocolate (and non-chocolate) snacks and desserts and enjoyed flipping through recipe books in search of new items to make. Her favorite music included Rod Stewart, Jimmy Buffet, and The Beatles, and she enjoyed attending concerts of her favorite acts. Talented and stylish, Nancy loved indulging in recreational activities such as shopping, antiquing, decorating her house (especially for fall and Christmas), and scrolling through designer purse forums.
In 2010 she was diagnosed with takayasu arteritis, a rare autoimmune disease. Spending many hours on a forum devoted to the disease, Nancy shared information, advised, and comforted those who had been newly diagnosed.
Nancy's funeral service will be held on February 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Birmingham. It was Nancy's wish that all attendees "dress in bright colors, not maudlin black," and that all hymns be sung "with vim and vigor!" In lieu of flowers, Nancy requested donations be made to the Greater Birmingham Humane Society, in line with her dedication to animal welfare. Even in death, Nancy gave the gift of life through organ donation and would encourage others to consider doing the same. In accordance with her wishes, her ashes will be scattered in a private family ceremony at Indian Boundary, TN, her favorite spot in the mountains.
Nancy's light will continue to shine in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her. She was a person of tremendous creative talent, style, and wit. She will be greatly missed.
