“Wrench” (taken from her maiden name Marenche - she’ll always be “Wrench” to me) and I met at Northern Illinois University in the 70’s. We kept in touch after graduation. My husband worked at the Meat Board in the late 80’s, and they were looking for a court reporter to record their annual meetings. Nancy was more than happy to oblige, and remarked that she so enjoyed the meetings (no lawyers!) here we are in San Antonio. She was always so much fun to be around-smart, funny, genuine. We had a chance to catch up last year in St. Louis where she shared her new city with us. I’m so grateful for that time. We spoke just days before she died-incredibly grateful for that as well. She was the best.

I used to call her Wrench when we were freshman roommates at Quincy College. driving around in her brother's car, listening to Carol King. We became instant friends and remained life long friends. She was kind, always curious and adventurous, straight forward and fun . It was an honor to know her and my heart aches so much. LISA MARENCHE

Nancy was the coolest person I knew. She worked hard and she played a little hard. She was always learning. Her love of music was something we had in common. She was best mom to her kids, the best coworker, the best sister to her brothers, the best friend to anyone lucky enough to have her in their circle and overall just a really cool person to be around.

She meant the most to me because she accepted me into her family with open arms, knowing how things may be perceived by others. She knew I love(d) her brother and she supported our love and marriage completely. Nancy adored our children and was always up for hanging with them and has been an active participant in being a part of their upbringing.

We are all going to miss her presence amongst our entire family. I'll miss our talks and her laughter. I feel blessed to have known her not just as my sister-in-law, but as a friend.
