Nancy's obituary
Nancy George Bailey Hesler
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…” Often, Mama’s visitors in the past 3 years would hear her recite Proverbs 3:5-6 as she encouraged them to trust in Jesus. Believing wholeheartedly in the truth expressed in the Heidelberg Catechism ‘that I am not my own, but belong — body and soul, in life and in death — to my faithful Savior, Jesus Christ’, Nancy rested her hope in Christ alone.
Born October 13,1930 in Cincinnati to Julian Clarke Bailey and Mary Belle McHenry McQueen Bailey, Nancy grew up in Mariemont, Ohio and graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a Bachelor of Science degree. Soon after, she met and married Glen Hesler. They raised a family of 3 children and moved to 7 different towns. During their first time living in Carmel, Indiana, she went to IU Med School to become a Registered Dietician. She worked in hospitals and at the Indiana School for the Blind.
When the Lord saved her in 2002, she began reading her Bible with joy and purpose. She worked as a volunteer with the Visiting Nurses’ Association in hospice care in hospitals and residential homes for the elderly. She enjoyed her cats, doing handiwork, her friends & family and visiting thrift stores. Nancy was a member of Tabernacle Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis and enjoyed serving in the soup kitchen ministry. She moved to Virginia in January 2023.
Predeceased by her sister, Janice B. Budai, her oldest son, Glen Christian and her grandson, Kristopher, Nancy is survived by her daughter, Julianna (John), her youngest son, Scott D. Hesler (Margie), her granddaughter, Selene M. Tucker (Curt), and her grandsons, Evan William Mays & Joseph Christian Bailey Mays plus three great-grandchildren: Marian, Jack, and Calvin Tucker.
We thank the Lord for His faithful watch care over Nancy’s life & for the expressions of sympathy from friends. Memorial gifts may be made to the Hurricane Melissa Relief response of Samaritan’s Purse.
On January 2, 2026, a memorial service was held at the historic Pleasant Grove Church in McLean. In early spring 2026 the inurnment will be at Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati.
