Myrtle Lois Berryhill Tolson, 71, of Lakeland, died Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her children.

Myrtle was a graduate of Millington Central High School. She loved her family, her five dogs and one cat, a sale and a decent buffet. She will be remembered for her giving spirit and how she would often go out of her way to give her belongings to those in need. When she wasn’t giving or loving on her animals, she could often be found building/crafting whatever came to her mind or tending to her fig trees, tomatoes and her vast arrangement of plants. She was strong in her faith, knowing that she had a much better future ahead than what was here in this world. At the end of her life, she had one final wish to hold her brand new granddaughter, Zoey, before she passed. With the help of her family, she was able to travel and meet the newest love of her life. She loved a good challenge.

Mrs. Tolson was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Jackson Berryhill and Ola Sherrill Berryhill, her husband of 44 years, Talmadge (T.G.) Tolson and her siblings; Albert Sidney Berryhill, Chester Berryhill and Edith Bonner. She is survived by her children; Talmadge Gray Tolson, Jr. of Oakland, TN, Rebecca Tolson Coleman of Lakeland, TN, Daniel Tolson of Tulsa, OK and Drew Tolson of Raleigh, NC and six grandchildren; Christopher, Adrienne, Michael, Evie, Eli and Zoey.

Her funeral will be a graveside service on Friday, January 29 at 11:00 AM at Poplar Grove Cemetery in Drummonds under the care of Barlow Funeral Home. Attendants will be required to wear masks. Myrtle requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Danny Cosby Music Ministries or to Poplar Grove Cemetery.
