Mykell's obituary
Mykell Renee Martin passed away suddenly on March 2, 2022. She is survived by her parents, Judy and Larry Martin, her only child, Bailey Johnson, her granddaughter, Roman. She was a daughter, a mother, and a friend to so many.
Mykell was born on October 10, 1972 in Springfield, Missouri. My mother was a beautiful, kind, loving, exuberant, brilliant, and strong willed woman. She would give a stranger the clothes off her back, or the last dollar in her purse if they needed it and never think twice about it. For those she knew, she would have given them anything that they needed, whenever they needed it. A friend, an ear to listen, advice, forgiveness, grace, love... anything that those closest to her needed she was there with her beaming smile ready to help.
My mom loved animals. One of her favorite activities was spending time with her beloved dog, Fritz. Throwing the ball for him or teaching him tricks. She would even share her lunch with him every day. She loved to cook and garden. She loved to be outside in the sunshine surrounded by nature. Everyone always called her "Snow White" because no matter where she went, animals followed her. My mother enjoyed being surrounded by those who loved her, working out, going shopping, reading the word of the Lord... She was just vibrant, happy and so full of life. My mother was incredible, fearless. She loved fiercely and deeply. No matter what she had going on she was there for the people she loved ready to take on whatever she needed to. She found joy and happiness in any situation. She always saw the bright side of things.
My mother carried herself with the highest grace. She navigated through life with poise and eleegance. She was the most beautiful person I have ever known. I can only aspire to be a fraction of the woman, mother, and wife that she was.
I read a quote, "The days are long, but the years are short". This could not ring more true. I was beyond blessed by the good Lord to have the best mother I could've ever had. These last 26 1/2 years felt so long.. Now, that she's gone, they seem like the blink of an eye.
My mother was unique and so special. Truly a golden soul. There will never be another Mykell. For those of us who were so fortunate to have her in our lives, she is with us and lives on through us. We will all miss her beyond measure.
