I am so sorry Jack that you lost her too soon. I was always happy to see her at our jams, always so up beat, and a felllow Asian American who played Old Time music! May she rest in peace and love from all of us.

So grateful am I that Phyllis was  born.  Grateful am I that we met and shared time with Phyllis and Jack.  We came to love and appreciate this remarkable couple.  Phyllis and my husband Marshall grew up at the same time in history and place in Honolulu.  They met in Camarillo. We loved talking story and sharing laughter and tears.  Thank you for living life to the fullest Phyllis@@

Jack and Family:  I very much cherish meeting Phyliss and you, under very unfortunate circumstances, on our pancreatic cancer Zoom call.  Phyliss was always such a positive force, caring and supporting all of us.  Having been a "Malahini" in Hawaii, Phyliss reminded me of my unpleasant experience of eating "bitter melon."  As often as she encouraged all of us to eat it, I could never bring myself to try it again.

Jack, I know with all the great memories we have of Phyliss, you and your family have a lifetime of them to keep your lives full of the memory and love of Phyliss.

I first met Phyllis and her family when I was dating her cousin Clint, who I would eventually marry. She was introduced to me as Tweety, her childhood nickname. She made me feel so welcome. We all lived in Orange County and got together often for family birthdays and holidays. There was always great Chinese food and poker/blackjack games after dinner including her mom Aunty Amy, who would punch you in the arm if she didn’t like how you played, and Phyllis’s kids who were learning how to bet responsibly with their allowance! I admired her job working with troubled teenagers at a residential facility/nonprofit. She was there when I married her cousin, for my daughters’ and stepdaughters’ birthdays, for family events in Hawaii, for advice in navigating the family’s Chinese/Hawaiian customs, and for Clint’s memorial when he passed away at just 51. She took pictures at his memorial and gave them to me because she said his young daughters would want to see them when they were older. We stayed close over the years and talked often. In recent years she attended my daughters’ weddings and gave valuable advice for a father-in-law suffering from pancreatic cancer. Her courage and compassion for others never wavered as she battled this awful disease. I loved and admired her so much and will miss her terribly.

My deepest condolences to the family. I love you all. I hope the memories/stories posted here and the knowledge that Phyllis made such a difference in so many people’s lives will be of some comfort to you. I will see you soon and give you lots of hugs!

I was so sorry to hear about Muriel's passing.  The posted photos remind me that she was alway pleasant, happy, and smiling.
