Morgan's obituary

No one expects an Angel to set the world on fire—but that is precisely what she did.

At just 24 years old, Morgan Marcella Goodall-Scott managed to do in a short period of time what many spend a lifetime attempting—demonstrating the power of Love.

Morgan understood the value in her Truth and the Power of her voice, and her life was a living testament:

to what beauty looked like

to what truth sounded like

to what love felt like

Her undeniable presence, unapologetically big afro, and infectious smile paled only in comparison to the size of her heart and the impact of her reach.

Morgan. Was. Everything.

But the world lost an Angel on Thanksgiving morning, November 24, 2022, in a tragic single-car accident in Conway, South Carolina. For every person blessed enough to experience a personal connection, it felt as though the world stopped on its axis—and their lifeline was gone.

Born in Silver Spring, Maryland on May 7, 1998, to the proud parents Sherri Eugenia Goodall and Lonnie T. Scott, Morgan was described as pure sunshine from an early age. Known to be “shy, but confident,” she lit up every room she entered and her smile was infectious.

Raised in Baltimore by a mother who worked in the entertainment & apparel industry, Morgan frequently accompanied her mother, Sherri, to work. A staple by Sherri’s side, it wasn’t long before Morgan became known as the “BET Baby.” When Sherri relocated from BET to DTLR Morgan’s role transitioned from “BET Baby” to “DTLR Daughter”. To the joy of everyone who knew her, Morgan could often be found hopping from office to office visiting, professional and executive staff alike. And where she went, the laughter and smiles were sure to follow.

Her early childhood was an incredibly happy one. Surrounded by a community of doting family and friends. But none more doting than her grandmother, Marcella Goodall. She was the one who excitedly met Morgan every day at the bus stop and had the honor of debriefing young Morgan’s day. Any person who has ever seen Marcella and Morgan together can testify to the unbreakable bond and immense love between them.

As a student at Sudbrook Magnet Middle School in Pikesville, MD, Morgan, known for her cultural curiosity, she chose to study Japanese for her magnet program. Her love for the culture and immersion in the subject included being a host family to a young Japanese student and developing a long-distance friendship with her as a pen pal. During this time Morgan also began to explore her Christianity and grow her own personal relationship with God. She became an involved member and Youth Ambassador for CCSL, Columbia Church for Spiritual Living. She spent many hours volunteering at special events, participating in youth workshops and representing the church at several national youth retreats.

During high school, Morgan played team volleyball for Western Tech, a public magnet school in Catonsville, Maryland. Standing tall in her light blue and black volleyball uniform, Morgan was a ferocious middle-hitter on the court for her Wolverines. She also played for her competitive travel team, the MVA Club Volleyball League. Teams she not only loved, but that connected her to an amazing group of women who she still considers among her most treasured and impactful friendships. Friends who over the years transitioned into family. “Morgan and her girls,” loved one another, traveled together, celebrated milestones and supported each other during setbacks. Their bond remained unwavering, despite being separated by college choices in different states.

At Western Tech, Morgan managed to make an undeniable impact off the court as well. Her altruistic tendencies meant she spent countless hours volunteering in the community and her efforts were recognized when she was presented with the U.S. Presidential Award for Community Service Hours.

It was in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina that Morgan began to blossom and fly. In 2016, Morgan enrolled at Coastal Carolina University (CCU) as a Business Management Major with a concentration in Human Resources. It was at CCU that she served as a Resident Advisor, won the Alpha Phi Alpha Nu Phi Miss Black and Gold Pageant and pledged Alpha Kappa Psi, a Business Fraternity. Her hard work paid off, landing her two professionally impactful internships with Turner Construction in Atlanta in a Human Resources capacity and at the Family Health Centers of Baltimore, also in the Human Resource Department.

One of the premier highlights of Morgan’s academic career at CCU was being selected as a recipient of the coveted Wall Fellows program, a 2-year program that prepares top students for high-level careers in major U.S. and international organizations. The program provided her with the opportunity to travel to Edinburgh, Ireland, Iceland, and London, making connections and memories across the globe and gaining access to the highest level of professional development.

Ironically, if you were to ask “Lil’ Miss” Morgan Goodall-Scott the highlight of her college years, she would probably point to the community she was able to build which included most notably her soul sister and roommate, Morganne Young and her boyfriend, Maxwell Kjosa. Morgan was surrounded by a carefully curated tribe of people who loved, supported, and lived life with her to the fullest.

After graduating with the class of 2022, Morgan pursued entrepreneurship. First, she leveraged her skills as a frequent vlogger and landed small businesses clients who could use her social media acumen. Then, she became a proud Amway representative who passionately shared with the world how to live a happy, healthy life. And found her way to Croissant Bistro & Bakery where she served as a Barista and hostess and established amazing friendships.

A culture warrior who loved music, wrote poetry, and represented everything Black, Morgan was truly one of one. Whether she was gracing a Puma campaign as a model or simply walking through the door, she radiated at a different vibration.

Not long ago, Morgan wrote the following: “As a reminder for any and everyone feeling

the world crashing around them right now. Don't forget that your power is limitless no matter how bad things may seem at the moment.”

To know Morgan Marcella Goodall-Scott was a privilege of a lifetime.

Morgan is survived by her parents Lonnie T. Scott and Sherri Eugenia Goodall; Stepmother Leah Scott; Grandmother Marcella Minor Goodall; a host of Godmothers & Godfathers Mary Wright, Wesley Mallette, Shawn Boynes, Lisa Simms, Rhonda & Diosa Clyburn, and Daniel & Shauna Wilcox; Siblings, Leah Scott, Lonnie Scott II, Alexandra Newton (Austin), Samantha Bowling (Shelly Buechel) , Lee Scott, and Logan Scott; a host of nieces and nephews whom she deeply loved; her roommate who she referred to as her Soul Sister, Morganne Young; and, her dear beloved partner Maxwell Kjosa; and of course her “ big puppy” companion, red nose pitbull, Pimp. She is preceded in death by her dear grandmother grandfather William Eugune Goodall and Delores Roy.
