Moreio's obituary

MR. MOREIO DEWAYNE MCGAHEE, affectionately known as “Sarge” or “Coach” was born on Wednesday, January 21, 1976, to Willie Norman McGahee and Patty Hobbs McGahee in Augusta, GA. Moreio transitioned to his heavenly home on Sunday, March 10, 2024, while at the Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center in Augusta, GA. We humbly pray to our Father, God that his transition was peaceful.

After graduating from high school, Moreio furthered his education by attending South Carolina State University of Orangeburg, SC, majoring in engineering and Strayer University of Augusta, GA where he received his Master of Business Administration degree. He also received multiple certifications all while battling renal failure and cancer. Moreio is the father of three amazing children and one goddaughter. He’d always put his family first, and he was a dedicated father at best.

Not only was Moreio a dedicated father, he was a hardworking professional, a committed son, a loyal brother, a compassionate friend, a beautiful human being, and above all else, he was a man of faith. From the start, he was fiercely passionate about his faith, family, and football, and he dedicated his life to all of them.

Strong, kind, loving, and supportive are just a few words to describe what type of son, father, brother, friend, teammate, and person Moreio was in general. If you knew Moreio, you knew his love for football. His favorite teams were the Dearing Steelers, the Langford Lions, Richmond Academy Musketeers, South Carolina State University Bulldogs, the Georgia-Lina Lions as well as the Miami Hurricanes and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was the ultimate teammate and coach. Anyone who shared the field with Moreio knew he’d do whatever it took to have his back for his team. When it comes to football, he enjoyed teaching just as much as he enjoyed playing.

Although it may seem that Moreio’s life was cut-short…God knows best. There are no goodbyes for us, no matter where you are, you will always be in our hearts. We will miss you dearly until we meet again. Our dearly beloved Moreio Dewayne McGahee was preceded in death by a grandmother, Verna Mae Embry; two grandfathers, Willie Lee McGahee and Lorenzo Anderson; one great-grandmother, Dessie O’Neal and one great-grandfather, Herman O’Neal.

He leaves to cherish his memory: two loving daughters, Rianna McGahee and Madison McGahee, both of Hephzibah, GA; a loving son, Mariano McGahee of Hephzibah, GA; a goddaughter, Diamante Barleston of Augusta, GA; his loving parents: mother, Patty Hobbs McGahee and father, Willie Norman McGahee of Augusta, GA; a loving brother, Reggie McGahee of Washington, D.C.; a loving grandmother, Daisy Anderson Hobbs of Dearing, GA; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
