In Thai Buddhist tradition, the ash scattering ceremony, known as loi angkarn, symbolizes the release of the deceased's remains and is often paired with merit-making. Morakot’s ashes were scattered in the Chao Phraya River, Gulf of Thailand (13°32'53.9"N 100°35'12.5"E) as part of this ritual.
