My condolences to Monroe's family. He was my teacher at Lane Tech High school in Chicago. I was just telling my wife about my teacher who was a body builder and looked him up and found out his passing. He was a great teacher who showed tremendous passion in the subject while being a gentle giant.

I was honored to have known Monroe through my good friendship with his wife, Pat. He exemplified so many great qualities through his strength, gentleness, kindness, and adoring love of God, his wife and family, friends and mankind. . He was so many good things to so many different people, and one of the very few genuinely good people I have known. Although he will be sorely missed, my family and I will continue to feel his presence through our memories, and in those he loved so greatly.

With heartfelt love and gratitude, I honor my dear Brother-in-Law and my Brother in Christ... To say you will be sorely missed doesn’t even begin to capture the depth of the void you leave behind. You truly embodied the purest Scriptural definition of love, living out its every facet with grace and humility. Your unwavering patience, boundless kindness, and enduring spirit stood as a beautiful testament to the divine love Christ Jesus called us to share. You never sought recognition, never gave in to irritation, and never allowed resentment a foothold. Instead, you radiated a quiet, steadfast strength that inspired and uplifted EVERYONE blessed to know you. As I write these words, I marvel at how they require no embellishment—for your life, in its simple and profound beauty, speaks entirely for itself.
It was remarkable—almost uncanny—how much you reminded me of my earthly father. Your similarities were so striking, it was almost scary. Both of you shared the same steadfast love, quiet wisdom, and unshakable faith that felt like a warm, steady presence in my life. Through you, I often saw reflections of the fatherly love and guidance I cherished so deeply, making your presence even more precious to me.
I will deeply miss the impromptu biblical discussions we shared—those moments of exchanging scripture, diving into God’s Word, and gaining fresh perspective. Those conversations were not only spiritually enriching but also a source of joy and connection that I will always treasure!
Your life was a living sermon—a constant, steadfast example of grace, love, and patience that touched my heart and the hearts of so many others. You will forever remain a guiding light in our memories, and your legacy of love will continue to inspire us all.

I met Monroe in 1965 when we were both AAU Weightlifters... he at Duncan Y, and I at Ravenswood Y. I am shocked at his passing. He was one of the finest men I have ever known. Rest In Peace... Terry Strand
