Trip to visit great grandma
2012, Grammie's House in Chester MD
Trip to visit great grandma — with Mona Lackman and Anders Mele

Aunt Pal she was my Mommom’s sister. Technically she is my Great Aunt but to me she was called Aunt Palie. It was really like having another Mommom. I didn’t get to see her as often but when I did she always made me feel included. Her hugs could make troubles feel less overwhelming, safe and secure. Everytime she was around she made everything brighter.  My son Landon loved the banter with her. Always something to bet on. To race the elevator as he ran up the steps, football games, basketball games. She always kept up to date with him. He loved her so very much. It was always a special treat to see or talk to her. We will all miss her so very much. Rest well Aunt Palie Until Jesus comes to take us home. We Love you.

Love always,

Laura, Landon and Vance Lipscomb

Grammie Mona buys her great grandson Anders a Karaoke Machine at Christmas that apparently he wanted his "whole life." 🎄 🤣❤️
I only met her within the last year. Although I only saw her a handful of times, each time I left, I felt blessed.  Her wit, her stories and her joy were infectious.  She was a jewel!
I guess it should be no surprise that Aunt Palie would leave this world so soon after my Mom. I don’t know any two siblings that were any closer. They were so different in personality but have loved each other greatly. Aunt Palie was a huge part of my life for 71 years. I always looked up to her and loved her dearly. My mind is so full of memories of her, and my heart is full. We spent so many vacations, birthdays and Christmases together. She was so generous and so full of life, and I will miss her always. A special thank you to her neighbor and friend, Naomi, for going above and beyond caring for her during her final years. Aunt Palie, I love you more. Your loving niece, Karen.

We were fortunate to have had the chance to see here again after a very long time, live through a videocall a few months ago and we had a lovely conversation for 1,5 hour bringing up memories from our stay with Mona and Harold for 3 weeks during our honeymoon in 2000 with my mother as well, who was invited also to stay in her house in Maryland. I had also the opportunity to keep her up to date with all the news from our family in Belgium and she was so glad to hear latest news and also with all the pictures and video's I sended her through messenger. Each year without failure, we sended each other pictures and a postcard for Christmas. Me and Ria will always cherish Mona as a loving person, a caring mother and a unique grannie and we will always cherish her in our lives. ❤️❤️❤️
