Molly's obituary

Molly Was A God Damn Rock Star

Molly Parsley aka Mols aka The Mollster was born on May 16, 1974, the year of the tiger in Louisville, Kentucky. Louisville is known as "The Gateway to the South," and if you had the privilege of meeting Molly, she was the human embodiment and your best introduction to everything good about the South.

A strong-willed, kind, and up-for-it Taurus. Growing up, she was not just the life of the party, she was the planner, making sure everyone was having the time of their lives and using her parents’ home as the stage for most of her events. In 1996 Molly graduated from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana with a degree in Journalism. And even though “as a child, she was the biggest scaredy-cat,” in 1996 she made her way west to San Francisco to begin what would be an illustrious career in public relations. Her ambition and passion for great ideas and even greater work put agencies like Pereira & O’Dell, AKQA, and Lot 21 on the map. She was their secret weapon and won every award on the planet including an Emmy because of it.

She was super smart and witty beyond compare. Always funnier and quicker than everyone in the room. Her sarcastic sense of humor lived in perfect harmony with her heart of gold. She was sentimental and gentle, especially when it came to animals. With humans, she was the most dedicated and loyal friend you could ever have. She was tough and didn't suffer fools. If you were an asshole, you would never have the privilege of knowing her. Molly loved learning and walked through life open to everything. She was a great reader and a great writer, but her real passion was traveling. She didn’t just travel, she adventured. She loved the beautiful, bizarre and mysterious. She lived her life to the fullest in every way, whether it was an extraordinary trip across the planet or a night out ordering Rocky's Choice at Benihana. Life was hers for the taking.

She swam with sharks and saw leopards mating in South Africa.
She climbed Machu Picchu.
She jumped out of planes.
She rode a bicycle from SF to LA for AIDS.
She saw the northern lights in Iceland.
She swam naked (many times) in Hawaii.
And she sipped Dom Perignon in the caves of Champagne.

She’s survived by her cat Wesley Tumbleweed, her beloved sister Jessica, her dad Dr. Bill and Maryann Parsley and her mom Jacque Parsley, and Dr. Robert Solinger as well as a vast fan club of chosen family and friends all over the world. She was predeceased by her beloved cat Dolly.

If you are one of the aforementioned folks, know that she loved you deeply. And be rest assured that she's up there plotting out all our adventures in heaven. There will be no better friend or guide when we get there. Look for Dolly sitting on her lap.

Peace be with you MP.
