Mitch's obituary
Mitchell “Mitch” Llewellyn, 65, of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 20, 2025. Born on December 7, 1959, in Frostburg, Maryland, Mitch lived a life marked by dedication to family, service to his country, and a deep appreciation for the natural world.
Mitch proudly served in the United States Army as a Private Second Class (PV2), stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. His time in the military reflected his strong sense of duty and commitment to something greater than himself—values he carried with him throughout his life.
He was known for his charisma and infectious energy. Whether among friends or family, Mitch had a way of lighting up any room he entered. Those who knew him often recall how he became the life of the party, bringing laughter and warmth wherever he went.
Mitch found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid birdwatcher who could spend hours observing nature’s quiet beauty. He also enjoyed crafts that allowed him to work with his hands and express his creativity. Hunting and fishing were among his favorite pastimes—activities that connected him to the outdoors and brought him peace.
Above all else, Mitch cherished his family. He is survived by his devoted wife and soul mate, Rhonda Mae Llewellyn (Flanagan), who stood by his side through every chapter of their journey together. He leaves behind a loving sister, Camille Alexander (Llewellyn), and her husband Craig Alexander.
Mitch was a proud father to three children: daughter Stefany Llewellyn and her spouse Michael Beam; son Mitchell R. Llewellyn and his spouse Zachary Llewellyn; and son Derek M. Llewellyn and his spouse Krystal Llewellyn. His legacy continues through his grandchildren—Elijah Llewellyn, Ayeraye Llewellyn, Nireti Llewellyn, Trenton Lowery, and Johnavon Lowery as well as numerous extended family—who brought immense joy into his life.
He was preceded in death by his father Roy Elijah Llewellyn; mother Margaret Marie Llewellyn; stepmother Betty Ann Llewellyn; brothers Joseph Llewellyn and Steven Llewellyn; as well as numerous extended family members whose memories remain close to heart.
Mitch’s passing is mourned not only by those closest to him but also by numerous extended family members and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His wife, Rhonda, recalls her fond memories of them just sitting together watching television. His presence left an indelible mark on many lives—a testament to the respect and love he inspired throughout his years.
A funeral service will not be held, as his final wishes for everyone who knew and loved him to "have a beer for me".
May Mitchell “Mitch” Llewellyn’s memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire love, laughter, and connection for generations to come.
