Minerva's obituary
Minerva "Minnie" Ramos Martinez was born in 1944 to her immigrant Filipino parents, Aniceto and Florencia Martinez of San Fernando, Pampanga. She was third of the six children, a loving mother to Antonette (Walter), Julicet (MaryAnn) and Josephine (Michael) and grandmother to Joanna, Joshua, Julian, Justin, Jazer and Mijoe.
Growing up in the Philippines, Minerva graduated from Artistic School of Cosmetology and owned a beauty parlor in the 1960's. Aside from running her own business, Minnie was well known in helping out manage the family-owned store. She got married and had three children. Minnie later migrated and followed her parents to the United States in the 1980's seeking good fortune for her three children. She travelled several states but fell in love with the city of San Francisco. Minerva continued to follow her passion for small business management and managed many coffee shops in downtown San Francisco. She mastered brewing the best coffees even before the word "barista" became a trend. She was well known as the charming coffee shop attendant who always serves her clients with a smile but a tough cookie who can spot suspicious characters a mile away!
Minnie was a devote Catholic and attended services at St. Patrick's Catholic Church and St Mary's Cathedral. She enjoyed being a part of the San Francisco Senior Care/Sequoia Living Community Services. She spent her last years enjoying senior activities provided by the center. She loved freedom and kindred the spirit of friendship with the other senior members and staff members of the community center.
