Mildred's obituary

Mildred Vida (Wade), age 95, formerly of Pulaski, New York, passed away peacefully at home with family at her side, on April 26, 2024. She was born March 2, 1929 in Utica, New York. After two years of college, she worked for Socony Vacumn Company as a Secretary. She married John Henry Vida in New York City in 1954. After moving to Pulaski, New York, in 1967, she managed the books, wrote obituaries, setup chapels, managed deliveries, and ensured all actions were completed for the Taylor-Vida Funeral Home. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Pulaski for many years. She taught a Senior Osteoporosis exercise class for several years before moving to Arizona with her daughter. Her passions were cats, baking, gardening, reading, and crossword puzzles. She was an avid animal lover, having cats early on in life, then several dogs, and many rescued cats the last years of her life. She spent a lot of time volunteering at Hearts That Purr Feline Guardian cat sanctuary in Tucson, where she made many friends, human and feline alike. Preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Claudia Wade; two brothers, William and Lewis; one sister Betty; and her loving husband of 54 years John Henry Vida. She is survived by three sons, John M. Vida (Deanna) of Lacona, NY, David W. Vida of Bridgeport, NY, Peter S. Vida of North Port, Florida; one daughter, Jill E. Goodwin (Dale) of Tucson, Arizona; one "adopted" daughter, Sharon Ford (Glen) of Round Rock TX; three grandsons, Christopher Goodwin, Sean A. Goodwin, Patrick Vida; one granddaughter, Nichole Whitlock; five great granddaughters; Mariah Whitlock; Katie R. Goodwin, Viviana Hernandez, Maetta Muniz-Roberts, Isabell Cherry; two great grandsons, Rayden Goodwin, and Orion Vida; one great great grandson, Alexander Goodwin; and several nephews and one niece. All of these she loved and touched deeply. Visitation and services will be held at Avenidas Funeral Home, 1367 W. St. Mary's Rd, Tucson, AZ, on May 11, 2024, with visitation at 11:00 and service at 12:00.
