Michelle's obituary
Michelle Lightner
Born May 24, 1952 – Entered into eternal rest on August 4, 2025.
Michelle lived a life filled with music, faith, and love. She had a remarkable gift for singing, one of many talents she gratefully received from the Lord. Her signature song, Ave Maria, showcased the power and range of her voice, which she carried with grace and ease. Whether singing at St. Peter’s Parish, volunteering with the McKeesport Tiger Marching Band, or simply filling her home with song, Michelle’s music touched the hearts of all who heard her.
Her love of music stretched far beyond her own voice. A lifelong “Beatle Maniac,” she collected all of the Beatles’ vinyl and 8-tracks, knew every lyric—even to the most obscure songs—and sang along to anything that came to mind, including John, Paul, George, and Ringo’s solo projects. She also enjoyed playing her 6- and 12-string guitars, bringing joy not only to herself but to those around her.
Beyond music, Michelle dedicated her life to caring for others. As a dental assistant and office manager, she welcomed every patient with her bright smile and made sure they received the care they needed.
At home, she found happiness in sewing and crafting, attending craft shows, and lovingly creating Barbie clothes and Cabbage Patch dolls for her children. She delighted in visiting flea markets, always on the lookout for hidden treasures and great bargains. She also cherished her dogs, Pepe and Buddy, who were her faithful companions.
Faith was at the center of Michelle’s life. She made sure her children were raised in the Catholic Church, attended school and athletic activities, and received the sacraments. She lived privately with her husband, Steve Lightner, until she peacefully joined the Lord.
Michelle is also survived by her son, Ron Ondechek, Jr.; her daughters, Heather and Kimberly; and her beloved grandchildren: Alexa, Andrew, Betsy, Kiera, Selena, Ronnie, and Jackson.
She was laid to rest at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor her memory by praying that more people may come to know Jesus, and by singing along to your favorite Beatles tune the next time you are gathered with loved ones. And if you find yourself alone or can’t quite carry the tune, simply hum it—she and the angels will gladly sing with you in heaven.
