My first memories of Michelle were through my kitchen window. I was making coffee one morning, shortly after moving to Plymouth, and saw a lady also making coffee in her kitchen. I waved, she waved. Our families occasionally posted notes to each other through the window, Merry Christmas, etc. Finally, we met over dinner. Cory and Michelle were our neighbors for 4 years in Plymouth and we loved every minute of it. My favorite thing about Michelle was her sense of humor. Often times, she would be the only person laughing at my stupid jokes. As I look back, I see now she wasn't laughing because she thought I was funny. She was laughing because she was extremely kind and if she didn't laugh no one else would! I called her Mitchell and she accepted my nickname for her with a smile. My children adored her. Melissa and I adored her. I can easily say I have yet to meet anyone that matched her kindness, her generosity, and the way she loved other people. She was just genuine and anyone that met her knew that immediately. Thank you, Michelle, for spending time with me and my family. We are better people because we met you. -Nathan

the Breitowich family was so saddened to hear af Michelle passing. May her memory be a blessing. My son, Jack, had Michelle for a second grade teacher at SCS. Spring play, about the coming of spring, Michelle chose Jack to be the Robin. the protagonist of the play. I mean we all know the first sight of a robin means spring is coming in the midwest. after a week, Jack said he didn't feel like a robin, he was more of a Hawk when he thought of a bird. so even though it didn't vibe w the story line... Michelle said "sure. be a hawk." she called me and asked me would I mind making a costume for jack since we were 1 week away. I did. and jack performed as a hawk. though it made no sense for the story line that a hawk was addressing the coming of spring...Michelle let him be who he wanted to be. forever grateful for her as a teacher, and character builder for my son.

My memories of Michelle are from childhood days spent with the Haugh's. The family friendship began with our dads over 70 years ago. Michelle was the tiniest, sweetest, soft-spoken girl with the big, beautiful smile. She would light up the room. She just had that special gift. It's so amazing of what an inspiration she was. She lived life to its fullest and positively impacted so many others. I'm forever grateful to her for her love, thoughtfulness and kindness shown to my parents and sisters. Be free, sweet Michelle, you are forever in our hearts. Janine Beatty Durham

I knew Michelle was special from the time she was my 8th grade volleyball coach. Caring, brilliant, and real, she was like no other adult I had encountered. She was a tough, but fair, coach who helped instill determination and discipline in the team.
Michelle continued to coach me throughout high school—not in volleyball, but in life. She was a trusted adult, a sympathetic ear, and most importantly, someone who got me. Michelle opened up her house to me and I got to know her amazing husband, Cory. They were both beacons of light in a challenging period for me. They also were inspirational as I had never met anybody as smart as them. Their love and fondness for each other was palpable. Their relationship, real.
Everything about Michelle was real. Her fondness for teaching. For coaching. Her easy laugh. Her quick wit. Her courage. Most real of all—the impact she made on the lives she touched. Michelle left this world better than she found it—something we should all aspire to.
I am a better person for having had Michelle in my life. We all are.
