Michele's obituary

1952 – 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Michele Arnold Sealy McIntosh on June 20, 2025, in Portland, Oregon, alongside her beloved husband, Richard McIntosh. Michele was 72 years old.

Born in San Jose, California in 1952, Michele was raised in Willow Glen by her parents, the late Meryle Imogene Bugh and Charles Fredrick Arnold.

Michele’s first great love was Billy ‘John’ Sealy. Together, they built a life rooted in love, raising three children and creating memories that spanned decades. After John’s passing, Michele continued to embrace life fully, traveling the world and eventually finding love again with Richard McIntosh. Together they shared a beautiful life along the Pacific Coast in Soquel, California and then Astoria, Oregon.

Michele’s heart belonged to her grandchildren. She adored Bridget, Jay, and Leila with a fierce and joyful love—celebrating every milestone, encouraging every dream, and treasuring every moment with them. The arrival of her great-granddaughter, Hazel Michele, brought her indescribable pride and delight. Knowing that Hazel would carry her name into the future filled Michele with immense joy. Her legacy lives on brightly in each of them.

A woman of boundless curiosity and vibrant spirit, Michele traveled to every continent except Antarctica—though she had plans in the works to check it off her list soon. She was a collector of playing cards and an even greater collector of stories and connections. She had a deep love for porch sitting, little league score keeping, scary movies, cooking delicious meals, quilting, beach days, playing gin rummy, her book and bleep club, cheering for her favorite films at The Oscars, and above all, sharing time with her family and friends.

Michele was truly a Hall of Fame Human. Her love, humor, and generosity will leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her first husband Billy John Sealy; her son Caleb Sealy; her brother Richard Arnold; her sister Clyta Amadeo; and her son-in-law Jon Jay Houston.

Michele is survived by her sister Sandra Arnold Maida Currier; her daughter Kimberly Sealy Day and son-in-law Martin Day; her son Benjamin Sealy and daughter-in-law Michele Sealy; her grandchildren Bridget Houston Smith and husband Michael Smith, Jay Sealy Houston, and Leila Carson; and her great-granddaughter Hazel Michele Smith.

A memorial service will be held on

Saturday, July 26th at 3:00 PM at Willow Glen Memorial, 1039 Lincoln Ave, San Jose, CA 95125.

A Celebration of Life will follow.

Michele’s laughter, stories, and sense of adventure will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
